    MÂÎ // Ceren Turkmenoglu

Mâî, composition by Ceren Turkmenoglu Mai is an old word used in Turkish, which derives from Arabic roots. It means 'from the water' and signifies the things about water, including the color blue. It implies things of water's nature such as the fluidity and flow, and represents things that belong to the water. Water is regarded as the origin of all things in philosophy. In other words, everything comes from the water, and returns to the water. It is where life began, and where the soul longs for. And with this, the sea signifies eternity, oneness, and peace. This piece is written for the people who lost their lives due to the pandemic, and for the people who couldn't say goodbye to their loved ones before they passed. As the melody evolves with the harmony, it arrives to a bright place with the intention of celebrating the lives of the ones that have passed and became passengers on the sea, thus eternity. .. Music composed by Ceren Turkmenoglu. Recorded in my home studio on violin and frame drum. Images are taken by myself on a trip to the sea. .. ..
